I get so excited about it almost being February because of all the fun topics to teach!! I enjoy teaching Dental Health and Presidents Day!! I have several products available in my TpT store for both topics AND some FREEBIES in this post. Click here or the pictures below to check out A Trip to the Dentist.
I also have a freebie that is called 3 Facts and a Fib. If you are interested, click here.
And Presidents Day is also one of my all time favorite topics to teach kinders. I created this easy to use and easy on the printer (print-friendly) unit for Presidents Day. This unit is geared towards kindergarteners. It is packed with graphic organizers for Presidents Day and American symbols and emergent readers for your emerging and eager readers.
Here is a freebie for Presidents Day!! Click the picture above to download.
1) Look what our kindergarten teamreceived in the mail this week! My students loved getting a new toothbrush and book from Colgate!! I know this picture is a little funny!! I had my kindergarten colleague take the picture before we opened the box. I love getting packages in the mail.
2) The package arrived just in time too! We were studying and learning about Dental Health. My Dental Health Literacy Unit is available in my TpT store. It is a 63 page unit filled with literacy, reading, writing, and graphic organizers for dental health. Below are some photos of my students reading from the document camera. The book is included in my Dental Health Literacy Unit.
3) I also purchased some pretty amazing clipart from The Hazel Owl. I emailed and told her that I liked her style. I requested dental health clipart. The clipart shown above was used in the packet along with other clipart too.
4) Today our 4th graders paraded our school to celebrate Chinese New Year. Below are some photos of the dragon. Our kindergarten students put coins in a bucket to bring them "good luck". The proceeds go to benefit a local charity.
5) I also purchased this amazing Chinese Unit to use with my students. It is a 51 page unit made by First Grade Blue Skies. She is fabulous and has so many ideas.

February is right around the corner. Did you know that February is Dental Health month? I really enjoy teaching dental health in kindergarten because the kids really relate. Some students have already lost a tooth and most have already been to the dentist for the first time. I actually spend two weeks on dental health and have the nurse come in to talk to the students too. They love getting their own free toothbrush.
I am really excited this year to try out this healthy snack found on Pinterest!! Apple slices, mini-marshmallows, and peanut butter..... What kinder wouldn't love this snack? Click the photo below to link to Pinterest.
The Dental Health Unit that I mentioned is a 63 page unit filled with literacy ideas. The illustration belowincludes a few samples from the unit. Bare with me though, because I am offering a free download at the end of this post.
I also came across this YouTube video to show my students.
The tune of this song and video is perfect for my students. It will get them moving and so excited about learning.
Another interesting site I found was at the Crest website. They offer student kits and teacher resources to help teach students about dental health. I even read that they will send a CD or DVD to help supplement your teaching. I have been told that Colgate also offers kits to teachers.
I also think this Pinterest idea was super cute and so easy too.
Now for the freebie!! I created a 63 page Dental Health Literacy Unit and have found it to be full of writing and integrating activities for my students. I enjoy the 3 Facts and a Fib portion of the unit the best. So, I am offering just that portion of the unit for free.
I also used Stephany's fonts in the text boxes above. Click the photo below to check out her fonts. I love them!! I used "Little Kid" and "Doodle Trip".
February will be here before we know it. If you blog about either the Super Cute Fonts or the Dental Health 63 page Literacy Unit before February 1st, I will send you theDental Health Unit for free. Just comment that you blogged about it, leave the link and your email too.
