Five for Friday {January 8th}

We are linking up this week with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.  Click HERE to go check out the other Five for Friday posts!

Stephanie has been sending home her math facts fluency home with her Kindergarten students this week.  They are so excited to be "big" kids working on homework.
You can grab up her facts packet by clicking HERE.

I am trying out alternative seating in my classroom.  I am starting with just a few tables at different heights to start with.  It has been a huge hit with the students so far!  I still need to find some stools, rugs and more seating options.

I am loving these Touchtronic letters that go with the app.  The kiddos are so engaged when they are using them.  I got them off of Zulilly so be on the lookout for them to come back!

Stephanie's students have been reading "The Mitten" and "The Hat" by Jan Brett this week.  The students wrote a thank you note to Baba from Nikki, the two characters from the mitten.

Then they journaled about a hat that they have at home.  They had to write using descriptive words and draw an illustration.

We are starting to use the six-traits for writing in our classrooms.  Our corporation is using Smekens  to roll these out.  If you ever get a chance to go to a Smekens education conference you should jump on it!  My students are loving rolling out the traits!
Here is Stephanie's Six-Trait board.

We hope you have a great week!

Jelly Bean Math Fun!

I have finally finished up my Jelly Bean Math Stations!  There are 11 Common Core stations in this pack.  Students even get to use jelly beans as manipulatives in some of the centers which they will LOVE!  Be sure to check back tomorrow for a freebie from this pack!

I have been waiting for a chance to use that super cute frame in a project.  I got the frame and the jelly bean clip art from The 3AM Teacher!  They were perfect!

Here are the winners from my Shamrock Math post... Cherie and Heather!  They get my Shamrock Math Centers for FREE!  You can check them out HERE!

~First Grade Common Core Math Assessments~

~Measurement~

My first grade Common Core Math assessments for Measurement are up at TpT.  This covers standards 1.MD.1, 1.MD.2, 1.MD.3, 1.MD.4.  There are 3 Assessments and a Pretest for each standard.

Included in the packet are graphs for students to keep track of their progress on each standard and classroom graphs to track the whole group.  I have seen a lot of positive results from graphing student progress in the classroom this last semester!  It's great to see the kids get excited as their "stairs" go up on their graphs as they work towards their goals!

You can get it HERE at TpT.

Time to THINK SPRING!

Recently, I missed a week of work teaching precious little kiddos.  My husband and I took our very first trip without kids.  Those who know me, know that this was NOT an easy thing for me to do.  But my husband dragged me on the plane and once we landed in Mexico, I was saying "What kids? ;)"
Knowing in advance that I was going to be gone I made up several activities for my first grade groups to work on while I was away. Since I do not get a sub when I am gone, I had to create activities that my first graders could do independently or with minimal supervision.  I then decided to take all of these activities and put them together to make a packet of math & literacy activities.  Only a few first graders in each class used these activities, so the first grade teachers are going to use them in their literacy stations.  I love getting to help the awesome first grade teachers :)  Here are a few of the activities:

You can find the packet HERE and please email me if there is an activity you would like to have included.  When you click on the link you will get a complete list of ALL activities included...Happy Teaching!!
Endless Possibilities,
