Teacher Talk Tuesday: Donors Choose

It is so exciting to get these emails in the middle of the day!

If you haven't signed up for Donors Choose (I just typed cheese... Donors Cheese, wouldn't that be interesting?) yet then you are missing out. Seriously, go sign up now. Well wait until you are done reading this post and then go sign up! In the last few months I have got an iPod Touch, 80 containers for math tubs, six Hots Dots pens, the complete sets of math and language arts Hot Dot cards and a lot more!

I think it is intimidating for teachers when they think about the process. It really is EASY! You go to and fill out your registration information. You have to verify what school you are from so they can make sure that you are actually a teacher and not some random school supply hoarder. Once you are verified, you get to shop through the catalogs from their vendors to find the materials that you need. After that you write up a super easy little blurb about why your students need these materials.

We have been funded these last few months pretty quickly by a local company. Some of my earlier projects were funded by and one by Starbucks. Once you are funded you just post 6 pictures of your kids using the materials and send some thank you notes to the donors. Donors Choose actually pays for postage and makes sure the letters get to the right places. It is BEYOND worthy of the little bit of extra work that you have to do. Now that summer is almost here it would be a great time to get a project started!

  4. I love Donors Choose! I was given a new book case for my library and a new writing center. It was all about $550.00 I was so thankful! That was my first time. :)
