Are you Data Driven?

Over the past several weeks we have been pre-assessing, assessing, and re-assessing.  After evaluating your students, what do you do with all the data?  Here is a link to our Data, Data, Data post.
Tracking data and data analysis is the key to knowing if our students really "got it".  I post my data graphs on the clothesline near my windows.  This allows me to change them frequently.  My students also have Data Notebooks.  Here is sample of the yearly goals posted in my classroom with quarterly benchmarks. (warning:  when you download the benchmarks, they are NOT in order.  For some reason, when I created them, I didn't put them in order.  Look the the bottom for the correct quarter.)

My colleague, Stephany, has the data notebook featured above in her TpT store.  Click here to link directly to her product.  She creates data notebooks for her students too.  Her first graders do an amazing job at recording and tracking progress.  After having data notebooks in kindergarten, her first graders are already familiar with their purpose.  Stephany and I both use data in parent-teacher conferences and for progress monitoring.

These are a few pictures from this year and last year.  We post our data in our classrooms.  Students watch the graphs and track their own progress.

Endless Possibilities,
Stephanie and Stephany

  4. I've never done visual goals like this. I'd be interested in doing this, but how do your kiddos feel about it? As I'm looking back at your post, maybe you don't list names on the bulletin board. I guess I'm afraid / concerned about embarrassing a student.

  5. Oh no... They are WHOLE CLASS goals. The individual growth is done in data notebooks. They each have their own. If a low student progresses from counting to 4 to counting to 7, WE CELEBRATE!!! Small steps is also MAKING PROGRESS.... Great question!! Stephanie

  7. WOW! I love these goals and charts! I need to get busy on mine for this year. We have some new requirements from admin to display our data and track our students in a way they can understand. Lots of work to do, but this is a great inspiration!

  10. I found that involving students in their own data collection is empowering. My Kinders were more self reflective...used vocabulary to identify what they were struggling with and not afraid to ask for help when they needed it. We were able to identify our strengths and see that making mistakes is part of the learning process. Thank you for your insight and generosity.

  14. The global Blood Collection Market is projected to reach USD 6.4 billion by 2025 from USD 4.8 billion in 2020, at a CAGR of 6.0% between 2020 and 2025. The major factors driving the growth of this market include the increasing incidence of infectious diseases, the rising number of accidents & trauma cases, the emergence of liquid biopsy tests, and a demand for blood donations and blood components. Both hospital and independent laboratories are generally reviewing each test to decide whether to recommend consultations with laboratory hematologists for tests with a higher risk profile or not offer tests that could not be performed safely. This affected the market negatively in the first few months of the pandemic, reducing the use of blood collection devices.
