Clipart Challenge

We are so excited to be hosting the Clipart Challenge here at Primary Possibilities.  Stephany and I came up with this idea as a way to promote all the fabulous clipart we see on TpT.  Each blogger was paired up with a clipartist who gave them a set of clipart and the blogger was given a certain amount of time to create a product with that clipart!  Follow along with the linky at the bottom to discover some clipartists you may not have known about and others who you already know and love!  You may even pick up some freebies along the way.

This Clipart Challenge was so much fun!!  I have learned so much about Lisa Mullarkey.  She is the creator behind Dandy Doodles.  Not only is she an amazing clipart artist, but she is also a hard-working author.  She has authored several books.  I included some of them at the bottom of this post.  Many of them are even Accelerated Reading books, for those of you who participate in AR, you will definitely need to check them out.  So presenting...
Lisa has been teaching for over 20 years!  Lisa has taught first and second grades.  She currently teaches first grade.  She has been writing books for quite a long time too.  Her first book was published in 2007 and since then, she has published over 50 children's books. She enjoys working with her husband, John.  They have a book coming out this summer, The Johnstown Flood,  from ABDO Publishing.

Lisa enjoys teaching, writing children's books and so much more!!  She also loves to garden, read, scrapbook, and most of all be a cheerleader for her teenage children in the many sports they participate in.

I asked Lisa what she enjoyed best about creating clipart.  Her reply: "I love working with my husband on it!  HE's so creative and I love to see what he designs.  He usually draws it and I clean it up/color most of it.  He's also a teacher and has the art gene in the family.  Our store is newish and once summer comes, we'll be adding a product a day on TpT."

So now that you know a little more about Lisa, it is time to see her product in action!!

It was so hard to choose which clipart that I wanted to use.  Dandy Doodles has so many colorful sets that it made my choice difficult.  Then, I came across this...
I chose to create more math stations for my kindergarten classroom.  You can never have enough math stations.  The watermelon clipart was so bright and colorful, I know my kinders will stay engaged.  Not only will I print and use the stations, but I will also save some watermelon seeds in August to use as counters for the stations.  I live right in the middle of watermelon country in Indiana.  Matter of fact, I worked over 9 years in the watermelon fields.  I worked through high school and college.  I spent the majority of my summer turning vines, pulling weeds, and picking watermelon and cantaloupe.

If you click the picture below, you will find a free download from Dandy Doodles.  If you teach kindergarten, like I do, you may start with nursery rhymes at the beginning of the school year.  All of her clipart include both colored and black/white images.
As I mentioned above, Lisa is also an author.  She writes children's books and has been a visiting author at many schools.  If you click here or the picture below, you will link to her website.  Her website includes more detail about her books and school visits.  I sure wish she lived closer to my school.  We have author visits each year and she would be perfect for our kids.

Go check out her website, TpT store and clipart store.   Don't forget to leave her some TpT love and tell her I sent you.

If you are interested in the Watermelon Math Stations discussed in this post, click here or the image below to link directly to the product.  I am offering it for FREE for this weekend only.  Thank you, Dandy Doodles, for sharing your love for reading and your amazing clipart!!  Your work is greatly appreciated.

Endless Possibilities,
Stephanie
