It's that time of the year! Testing time! Our school has done something a little different this year to try and increase scores and morale. Time will only tell with the scores but morale is definitely up! Last Friday we had a surprise pep session at the end of the day where the teachers actually danced. All I have to say is that if you can get me to dance in front of that many people, don't ever doubt my dedication as a teacher! Here is a link to our little I-Step song "Test Them Maybe" that we made up for the kids in case you missed it.
This year the primary classes each "adopted" an intermediate grade. We are making them cards, signs, and sending little goodies to keep their spirits up and help keep them from dreading testing and school this week. Here are some pics of the "goodies" and messages that my class has sent these past two days to our 3rd grade buddies...
Below are some of the things Stephanie has sent to the 4th grade classroom that her class adopted. She purchased Farley's RAK packet for her goodies and I seriously wish I would have come across it first! Some totally cute and cool ideas in this packet! You can check it out here.
I also got to help during testing today and I can't recommend enough that every primary teacher get the opportunity to get involved with helping, motivating and just in general being involved with the testing process for the upper grades. It really shows you what you should be working towards in your own teaching and it helps show those kiddos that the whole school is behind them!
Good luck to all of those testing this week!
